Spring Update

Saturday April 4th got the Alumacraft all cleaned up and ready to fish…..

Water conditions were reasonably cloudy and cold water, mostly at the 40 degree mark. Got started at 7am, skipped around to a few spots with no action, and at our 4th spot, noticed a nice warming pocket of 42 degrees in 8-9 feet of water, and spot-locked on the spot- and immediately started scoring big crappie and active largemouth bass. That extra 2 degrees meant everything. A pretty stiff north wind came up soon, but flurries would occur often when the sun would burn through the clouds and water would tick up to 42.2-42.3 and you’d get a 3-4 fish rush. The morning produced a giant estimated 6 lb. Largemouth, we did our absolute best only having that hog out of the water for about 30 seconds- just enough time for a quick pic(catch and release is so much more effective if the release is fast).

Plan to get back out there Thursday April 9th with my first-mate and fishing pal Joe who is off this week from teaching… basically we forecast and/or sit out the weather and try and fish the 4 warmest or most pleasant hours of the day…. Give us a text or call if you wanna go!!! Let’s do sme catching!!
